RiverLife is offering four summer internship positions May 19 through July 28, 2025. The positions are part-time (an average of 20 hours a week). While this internship is not paid, the skills and experience you will gain is immeasurable. We will go above and beyond to ensure a meaningful and rewarding experience that fits your life and career goals. This summer, you will learn valuable social networking strategies, project management, client care/case management, how to recruit and equip volunteers, and how each of these skills work together to serve the mission of our organization. You will also learn how to work in a professional environment and have ample opportunity to network with community leaders and other professionals in the nonprofit field.
What You Will Learn in Project Management:
- Gain an understanding of the clients we serve and grow in compassion for those in need.
- How to foster a spirit of compassion in the community and vocalize the needs of our clients within the community.
- How to organize a volunteer team and utilize their gifts for the work needed.
- How to create a strategic plan for one-day projects and our week-long camps.
- How to work with project assessors to estimate materials needed, obtain proper permits, and work the logistics of getting materials and tools to the project site.
- How to execute the plan and handle interruptions, delays, or other challenges.
- How to close a project and report the outcomes.
What You Will Learn in Volunteer Management:
- How to represent RiverLife at events for the purpose of recruiting volunteers
- How to schedule and plan volunteer opportunities for groups, families and students.
- How to complete documents and obtain appropriate permissions necessary for participants, parents, and local government in preparation for mission projects.
- How to execute a thorough orientation for volunteers.
- How to create meaningful experiences for the volunteer teams, ensuring safety, inclusion and teamwork.
- How to report outcomes of events and measure impact.
What You Will Learn in Communications/Social Media:
- How to create a long term social media plan and marketing calendar.
- Relationship building with our online community by maintaining Facebook, Instagram, and other media accounts.
- How to track social media analytics and report results and new ideas to our team.
- Create compelling content that will be shared by influencers.
What You Will Learn in Client/Case Management:
- Gain an understanding of the clients we serve and grow in compassion for those in need.
- How to foster a spirit of compassion in the community and vocalize the needs of our clients within the community.
- Develop an understanding of the resources available in our community and learn how to collaborate to ensure wrap-around services are accessible.
- Learn skills in effective communication with clients on behalf of RiverLife.
- Develop skills in documenting and reporting information regarding clients.
- Work with our project team to ensure applications for assistance are processed from intake to project completion.
- How to report outcomes of events and measure impact.
What We Require:
- A love for Jesus and a love for people; it’s our mission as a faith-based organization
- High school and college students at least 16 years of age and older.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and prefer experience in Excel and PowerPoint
- Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
- Creative and flexible.
- Familiarity with social networking sites is desired, but we will also train.
- Interest in nonprofit management and community development.
- Comply with RiverLife standards as set forth in our By-Laws.
